Wedding Cost in Bangalore 2026: Real Budgets by Guest Count

October 19, 2026 12 min read Aakash Gupta

A Bangalore wedding costs anywhere from ₹5 lakh for 50 to 100 guests to ₹3 crore or more for 1,000 guests. Most weddings with 200 to 300 guests land between ₹15 lakh and ₹40 lakh. Book a five-star palace venue and the same guest list costs a lot more.

Two things move the total more than anything else: how many guests you invite and how many functions you host.

Bangalore wedding cost at a glance

Here is what four published Bangalore guides report for 2025 and 2026. Read these as planning anchors, not quotes.

Ultra-large, full production1,000₹2.2–3Cr+Velvet Knot

Velvet Knot’s ranges assume three to four functions at luxury venues. Most other guides don’t state their assumptions. That is one reason the numbers clash, and we cover it below.

The formula behind every wedding budget

Most of your total comes from one multiplication: guests × price per plate × number of functions. Then you add the fixed costs on top.

Total ≈ catering + venue + décor + photography and video + entertainment + rooms and logistics + planner fee + GST + a buffer

Try it with round numbers. We picked ₹2,500 per plate, which sits inside the published ranges. It is a sample figure, not a quote.

  • 200 guests × ₹2,500 = ₹5 lakh per function
  • Three functions = ₹15 lakh in catering
  • 300 guests instead of 200 = ₹22.5 lakh in catering

So 100 extra guests add ₹7.5 lakh. Each guest who attends all three functions costs ₹7,500 in food alone.

Which costs grow with every function

Not every line item multiplies the same way.

  • Catering charges per plate at each function. It multiplies.
  • Sound and music price per event. Aura lists ₹1–3L per event.
  • Décor grows with the number of functions you dress up.
  • Photography prices by coverage. Wedsy notes that multi-day coverage costs more.
  • Makeup often comes per day. Aura lists ₹50,000 to ₹2L per day for the bride.
  • Planner fees come as a flat fee or a percentage of the budget.

Ask every vendor whether the quote covers one function or all of them. This one question saves a lot of arguments later.

Why Bangalore wedding cost guides don’t agree

Pick any two guides and the numbers clash. Here are the biggest gaps:

  • Price per plate: from ₹800 for a basic vegetarian menu (Wedsy) to ₹6,500 at top hotels (Theevexa). Velvet Knot goes up to ₹7,000 for palace-grade menus.
  • 250 guests: Theevexa’s published example comes to about ₹25L at ITC Gardenia. Velvet Knot puts a 250-guest premium wedding at ₹50–90L.

Five reasons explain most of the spread:

  1. Venue type. Hotels usually insist on in-house catering. Outdoor venues often let you hire your own caterer. Theevexa quotes ₹1,500–3,500 per plate for outside caterers and ₹2,500–6,500 at hotels.
  2. What the number includes. Hotels often fold venue hire into a catering minimum (Velvet Knot). One guide’s “venue cost” may include food. Another guide’s may not.
  3. Number of functions. Theevexa’s tiers run from one or two functions for intimate weddings to four or five for luxury ones.
  4. Date of the guide. Wedsy labels its per-plate figures as 2025 estimates. The others are dated 2026.
  5. Who wrote it. Venues, planners and marketplaces all sell something. That includes us.

The fix is simple. Before you compare two numbers, ask what each one includes.

Cost by guest count

Guest count drives catering, seating and hospitality together. Velvet Knot says every 100 guests you remove cuts all three.

  • Up to about 150 guests: ₹5–18L, usually one or two functions.
  • 200 to 300 guests: ₹15–40L, usually three or four functions.
  • 300 to 500 guests: ₹40L–₹1Cr at five-star venues (Theevexa). Velvet Knot reports ₹90L–₹1.8Cr for 500 guests across several events.
  • 750 to 1,000 guests: ₹1.5–3Cr and above (Velvet Knot).

A tighter list at a grander venue often feels more premium than a huge list at a modest one. Velvet Knot makes the same point.

where the Bangalore wedding money goes

Theevexa shares what percentage of the budget each category takes. Wedsy gives a similar view for catering. The shares are ranges, so they don’t add up to 100%.

CategoryShare of total budget
Venue25–35% (Theevexa)
Catering20–30% (Theevexa), 25–35% (Wedsy)

Entertainment3–8% (Theevexa)
Hospitality and logistics5–10% (Theevexa)

Venue

The venue is usually the biggest single line. Prices swing hard by venue type.

Catering

Catering is the number to model first. Wedsy puts food at 25–35% of total spend.

Published per-plate ranges:

  • Basic vegetarian: ₹800–1,500 (Wedsy)
  • Standard multi-cuisine: ₹1,500–2,500 (Wedsy)
  • Outside caterers at outdoor venues: ₹1,500–3,500 (Theevexa)
  • Independent venues: ₹2,200–3,500 (Aura)
  • Five-star hotels: ₹2,000–4,000 (Aura), ₹2,500–6,500 (Theevexa), ₹2,200–5,500 (Velvet Knot)
  • Palace-grade menus with live counters and premium liquor: up to ₹7,000 (Velvet Knot)

Menu style moves the price. Velvet Knot notes that a banana-leaf vegetarian South Indian feast sits near the bottom of the range. Live pan-Asian counters, non-veg mains and a premium bar can double it.

Décor and mandap

The guides group décor into three levels:

  • Basic: ₹1–4L (Wedsy, Theevexa). Aura lists ₹3L for a minimal setup.
  • Themed or signature: ₹5–12L (Theevexa). Wedsy says ₹5–10L+.
  • Luxury: ₹10L+ (Wedsy). Theevexa says ₹15–40L+. Velvet Knot says ₹15–50L.

Your venue matters here. Velvet Knot points out that a leafy garden venue brings its own backdrop, so the brief shrinks to lighting, flowers and a mandap. A bare ballroom has to be dressed floor to ceiling. Outdoor venues can add costs of their own, though. Wedsy notes they often need more lighting and power backup.

Photography and video

  • Standard packages: ₹1–3L (Wedsy)
  • Premium cinematic coverage: ₹3–5L+ (Wedsy)
  • Full coverage including a pre-wedding shoot: ₹1.5–5L (Theevexa)
  • Coverage by crew size: ₹2–6L (Aura)
  • Marquee photo-film teams: ₹6–20L (Velvet Knot)

Entertainment

Theevexa lists these ranges:

  • Sangeet choreographer: ₹50,000–₹2L
  • DJ and sound: ₹40,000–₹1.5L
  • Live band: ₹1–4L
  • Celebrity or regional performer: ₹5–25L

Outfits and makeup

Aura lists bridal makeup at ₹50,000 to ₹2L per day and ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 for other family members. It says designer outfits for both families can reach ₹10L combined.

Rooms and logistics

Outstation guests add up quickly. Theevexa lists five-star rooms at ₹6,000–15,000 per night. Aura mentions about ₹15,000 per night at The Leela Palace and Taj West End on wedding weekends. Resorts on the outskirts run ₹8,000–10,000 per night, also per Aura.

Theevexa estimates ₹3–10L for room blocks, transfers and welcome hampers for 50 or more outstation guests.

Planner fee

Theevexa says planners charge a flat fee or about 8–15% of the total budget. Wedsy gives a wide range of ₹50,000 to ₹10L+, depending on the planner and the services.

Ask for an itemised quote. A vague planner fee hides the same things a vague venue quote does.

GST

Velvet Knot says 18% GST applies to most wedding services. Confirm the exact rate for each line with your venue and vendors before you finalise a budget.

Bangalore Wedding Venue Cost

Aura, a Bangalore venue, published this table in December 2025. It shows average packages for a two-day celebration with standard décor. Peak season and exclusive bookings cost more.

VenueTypeGuestsPer plateTypical total
The Leela Palace5-star hotel600–900₹2,200–2,800₹35–55L
Taj West EndHeritage hotel400–700₹2,000–2,600₹30–50L

The Tamarind TreeHeritage resort150–400₹1,500–2,000₹20–30L

Theevexa publishes different venue-only figures for these hotels. Use this table to compare venues against each other, then ask each venue for a current quote.

Three Bangalore Wedding sample budgets from the published guides

These are examples the guides themselves published. They are not quotes. They also don’t cover the same items, so don’t compare them line for line.

₹25 lakh: 250 guests at ITC Gardenia (Theevexa)

Three functions across two days.

  • Venue: ₹9.5L
  • Catering: ₹6L
  • Décor and mandap: ₹4L
  • Photography and video: ₹2.2L
  • Entertainment (DJ and choreographer): ₹1L
  • Hospitality and guest logistics: ₹1.3L
  • Planning fee: ₹1L

₹30 lakh: 150 to 200 guests (Wedsy)

  • Venue and décor: ₹10–12L
  • Food and beverages: ₹7–8L
  • Photography and video: ₹3–4L
  • Entertainment and lighting: ₹2–3L
  • Attire and makeup: ₹4–5L
  • Miscellaneous: ₹1–2L

Wedsy’s split includes outfits and makeup. Theevexa’s ₹25L example doesn’t list them. That alone explains part of the gap between the two.

₹65 lakh: 400 guests at Taj West End (Theevexa)

Four functions across three days.

  • Venue: ₹22L
  • Catering: ₹18L
  • Bespoke décor: ₹12L
  • Photography, film and drone: ₹4L
  • Live band and celebrity sangeet performer: ₹3.5L
  • Hospitality (rooms and transport for 80 outstation guests): ₹3L
  • Planning fee: ₹2.5L

Hidden Bangalore Wedding costs to ask about

A quote rarely shows everything. Ask about these before you sign:

  • Food and beverage minimums. Hotels often tie venue hire to a catering minimum. Theevexa says these are negotiable when you bundle.
  • GST. Velvet Knot flags 18% on most services.
  • Room blocks. Rooms for outstation guests, plus airport transfers and hospitality desks.
  • Power and lighting. Outdoor venues often need extra lighting and backup power (Wedsy).
  • Blank-canvas setup. Velvet Knot says farmhouses need flooring, draping, generators and washroom units, plus an extra setup day.
  • Permits. Velvet Knot advises confirming permits for late music, open flame and outdoor builds.
  • Late décor changes. Theevexa suggests locking the design about 60 days out.
  • A buffer. Wedsy recommends keeping 10–15% aside for surprises.

Bangalore Season, muhurat and weekdays

Bangalore’s weather helps. Velvet Knot calls October to February the ideal window, with crisp days and cool evenings. It is also the most in-demand and priciest season. Wedsy puts peak season at November to February.

March to May stays comfortable and can bring better rates, per Velvet Knot. The monsoon runs roughly June to September. Afternoon showers make covered or backup plans essential, but pricing gets softer.

Dates matter too. Velvet Knot says peak Saturdays on prime muhurat dates book out 10 to 14 months ahead. A Thursday or Friday muhurtham can save 15 to 25% on venue and vendor rates, with no visible drop in quality.

Bangalore Location and traffic

Bangalore’s biggest planning variable may be traffic, not budget. Velvet Knot warns that a venue that looks central on a map can sit an hour of gridlock away from your guests’ hotels.

It describes three practical zones:

  • Central: Palace Road, Vittal Mallya Road and Residency Road, closest to the classic hotels.
  • Whitefield: newer luxury properties, handy for guests in the tech suburbs, far from the city centre.
  • Airport corridor toward Devanahalli: resort-style estates with the easiest reach from Kempegowda International Airport.

The airport sits roughly 35 to 40 km from the city centre. For fly-in and NRI guests, that distance matters. Cluster your guest hotels and your venue in the same corridor.

How tradition changes the bill

Velvet Knot explains that South Indian weddings are daytime affairs built around a morning muhurtham. That means lunch catering and daytime décor. North Indian celebrations run into the evening, which drives up lighting, stage and late-night catering costs.

Many Bangalore families now blend both. They hold a traditional vegetarian lunch for the elders, then a modern evening reception for the wider circle. Your budget has to carry both formats.

9 ways to spend less without looking cheap

  1. Pick a weekday muhurtham. Thursday or Friday can save 15 to 25% (Velvet Knot).
  2. Trim the list. Every 100 guests you remove cuts catering, seating and hospitality.
  3. Choose a garden or lawn where the rituals allow. A leafy venue needs less décor spend (Velvet Knot). Budget for lighting and power if you go outdoors (Wedsy).
  4. Bundle your catering minimum. Velvet Knot suggests negotiating a bundled minimum instead of paying separate venue rent.
  5. Book early. Wedsy suggests 9 to 12 months ahead. Velvet Knot suggests 10 to 14 months for peak dates.
  6. Lock the décor design early. Theevexa says about 60 days out.
  7. Consider the monsoon. Prices soften, but plan for rain (Velvet Knot).
  8. Send digital invitations. Wedsy lists this as an easy printing saving.
  9. Spend where guests notice. Wedsy puts meal quality and photography at the top of that list.
